The Brief

Todd Energy has been making a positive difference to the Taranaki community for over three generations. We helped them develop the identity of their community programme to better reflect the magic, fun and creativity of their events.

The approach

In addition to being the principle sponsor of WOMAD for over 17 years, their commitment to community projects over the years has gone from strength to strength. 2020 was the year we helped them develop a new identity for their community programme. Taking inspiration from the activities, landmarks, and native flora and fauna we developed a flexible brand system that sets them apart and positions them as a company that really connects to their whānau.

Good brand systems are flexible while providing structure. Key to the identity is an ever-growing illustration library that can be dialled up or down depending on the goal of the application. Teaming up with the wonderful Neasden Control Centre we began illustrating vignettes of local life.

Paired with clear and friendly type the design communicates to the community in a relatable and positive way in press releases, in community publications, emails and on merchandise.
